The Valley of the Kings, located on the west bank of the Nile River near Luxor, Egypt, is a significant archaeological site that served as the burial ground for pharaohs and powerful nobles during the New Kingdom period (circa 1550–1070 BCE). This necropolis is divided into two main sections: the East Valley and the West Valley
East Valley: The East Valley is the more frequented section, containing the majority of the tombs, including the renowned tomb of Tutankhamun. This area has been extensively excavated and is a popular destination for tourists due to its concentration of royal tombs. The tombs are carved into the limestone hills and adorned with intricate decorations depicting religious texts and scenes intended to guide the deceased in the afterlife.
West Valley: Also known as the “Valley of the Monkeys,” the West Valley is less visited and contains fewer tombs. Notable among them is the tomb of Ay, successor to Tutankhamun. The West Valley offers a quieter experience with fewer tourists, allowing for a more intimate exploration of its archaeological features.
